I used my special clippers to cut away some accumulated callus from my toe wound, partly because I was pretty sure I could do a better job than that doctor had done, and partly because I needed to see how much the wound was really closing up. I was glad to see, once the wound had been better exposed, that real healing has indeed been happening:

In sum, I am indeed healing, and while I could do more to improve my diet, I've obviously been behaving myself enough so that no new foot ulcers have formed since last October. In another few weeks to a couple of months, I ought to be at least 99% healed and back to distance walking. I'm impatient to be back on the paths.
