Amerique, j'ecris ton nom

As a newbie to the blogosphere, I've decided to do what other bloggers have been doing for a while, and sniff the other blogs out there. Instapundit is one of the flagship blogs, and on Glenn Reynolds's site there was a link to an interesting two-part essay by Bill Whittle in praise of The American Way on a blog called "Eject! Eject! Eject!"

If you're a political liberal and you've got redistribution of wealth on your mind, you might be a bit pissed off by this guy's tone and central argument. But while I'm a political nothing, I think I skew conservative when it comes to the capitalism question. Compared to the other forms of government and economy out there, what we have in America is not bad at all. Does our system contain problems? It certainly does, but we have a dazzling array of forums (fora?) in which to discuss those problems-- the blogosphere being one of the latest to appear.

Whether you're liberal or conservative or a political nothing like me, you might want to give this guy Whittle a read. I'm linking you to his two-parter. Be sure to read the reader reactions as well. Some of them are simpering. Some of them are heartfelt. Some of them challenge. Read the reactions because dialogue is better than lecture.
