toe update

After my toe-probe incident, things were touch-and-go for a bit, but I think the leakage is back under control, more or less. Here's how my sock looked this evening:

Here's the leakage through the bandage:

not much to see

And here's the toe wound in all its glory:

We've passed a significant milestone: when I dab at the wound with a tissue, there's no more "print" on the tissue. That doesn't mean there's no leakage: the wound still "weeps" when I walk around and put any pressure on the toe. But still: dabbing with tissue and coming away clean is a good sign. It means there is indeed some sort of healing going on. You can still see a hole leading into the wound, and I might have to cut away at the callus myself at some point to make sure the skin doesn't just close over the still-unhealed ulcer (possibly leading to infection). Whenever I do it, that's going to be a delicate operation, but I've cut away my own callus before without making myself bleed profusely. It can be done.
